Raiders coach Ricky Stuart says his team is guilty of trying too hard and wants last year's heroics to be forgotten after slumping to their third loss of the season
on Saturday night.
The Green Machine delivered an almighty effort to get within range of victory with two tries in four minutes sending the game into golden point against the Eels.
However, Clint Gutherson's field goal ended any hope of Stuart's men snatching a win – the Raiders coach stunned the side managed to take the game as deep as they did in the first place after a clumsy opening period.
"I'll never debate that they'll never give in, I've said that for years," Stuart said.
"But you can never win a game in the first half but you can lose them. We keep making it very hard on ourselves with poor pieces of football and that was the case in the first 20 minutes after we spoke of wanting to start so well.
"It was actually amazing we got back to that scoreline. We looked tired in the middle patch of the second half and they got their tails up and got a roll on.
"Until we fix it we'll never get a bit of luck. You need a bit of luck in games but it's not there for us."
