The Canberra Raiders are encouraging all supporters of the Club to get behind the 2021 Black Dog Institute Mullets for Mental Health fundraising campaign.

Black Dog Institute’s Mullets for Mental Health is encouraging you to shape and grow your mullet for the month of September to raise much-needed funds for mental health research.

Suicide is the leading cause of death among Australians aged 15-44, and roughly 50% of people reporting symptoms of mental illness don’t seek help.

Your mullet can help drive real change through ground-breaking research into the early detection, prevention and treatment of common mental health disorders.

Canberra Raiders Wellbeing officer Andrew Bishop said the association with the Black Dog Institute was an important one for the club and that the Mullets for Mental Health was a way people could help support a worthwhile cause in September while still in lockdown.

Canberra Raiders Wellbeing officer Andrew Bishop said the partnership with the Black Dog Institute was an important one for the Club and that Mullets for Mental Health was a way people could help support a worthwhile cause in September while still in lockdown.

“The numbers of people who have mental health issues are significant in society, with 1 in 5 people showing symptoms of mental illness in any given year,” Bishop said. “This initiative allows the club to help spread a really important message and we encourage all Raiders supporters to set up a page and grow a mullet while they are in lockdown and help raise money and awareness.”

“Growing a mullet may not seem like much, but it can start a conversation which may lead to someone with a mental health issue seeking support. If we can raise some money along the way, it’s all worth it. I’ve signed up again for 2021 as I am huge advocate for positive mental health outcomes in our community.”

If you don't want to grow a mullet you can still support
