Huge boost for Raiders as enforcer considers vaccination U-turn

Josh Papalii has informed Canberra Raiders officials he will be vaccinated in time for next year's NRL season. The 29-year-old has been one of the highest profile NRL stars to avoid submitting to the jab, but a U-turn on that stance is expected to leave Canberra with just two unvaccinated players heading into next season. It would relieve the Raiders of a massive headache, ensuring their enforcer will be permitted to play in every match next season. NRL officials have not made a vaccination against COVID-19 mandatory for season 2022, unlike their AFL counterparts, but state laws governing public safety around the virus could yet mean anti-vaxxers will not be able to enter certain rugby league venues. Unvaccinated players are allowed to train during preseason, but are reduced to living in a tight bubble when away from their clubs.
