NSW Blues utility Jack Wighton hopes Canberra can get a new stadium so the capital could one day have the chance of hosting State of Origin. The Canberra Raiders five-eighth loved the experience of playing the series opener in Townsville on Wednesday, where the Blues thrashed Queensland 50-6. Wighton wasn't getting too carried away with the romp, pointing out they hadn't won anything yet ahead of Origin II at Lang Park on June 27. He confirmed he would back up in the Raiders game against the Brisbane Broncos at Canberra Stadium on Saturday, having played just 16 minutes off the bench. There were 27,533 mostly Maroons fans in the Far North Queensland venue, giving Wighton hope one day the same could happen in the ACT.
