Josh Papalii's hopes of playing for Australia will be assessed on Thursday as part of the Canberra Raiders' post-season medical appointments. Papalii has been picked in the Kangaroos squad for games against New Zealand and Tonga on October 25 and November 1 respectively. The three-time Mal Meninga Medal winner hasn't played for Australia since 2016 after switching to Samoa for the World Cup two yeas ago. Australian coach Meninga had no hesitation picking the powerful forward after one of the best seasons of his career, but a grand final injury could scupper plans for a return. Papalii revealed he played most of the grand final with an injured pectoral muscle and the full extent of the damage is yet to be determined.
