George Williams thought the Great Britain Lions tour had slipped him by, but the Canberra Raiders recruit looks set to finally getting his chance. While Williams wasn't named in the 17, he gave an indication he would be called into the Lions team to face Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby on Saturday. Until now Lions coach Wayne Bennett has opted for Gareth Widdop and Jackson Hastings in the halves in their three losses to New Zealand and Tonga. It would mean Williams, who has played 10 Tests for England, would make his Great Britain debut. He said it would be a proud moment for his family to be part of the first Lions tour since 2007.
