Belconnen United Scholars (3) v Woden Valley Rams (5) on Saturday at 3:00pm at Northbourne Oval

Belconnen United has the opportunity to cement third place on the TTM Canberra Raiders ladder this week when they take on the Woden Valley Rams at home.

Third place on the ladder would guarantee the Scholars a home semi-final but Coach John Hawke believes this match is also of vital importance in regards to building on their current form and to garner momentum leading into their quest for back-to-back premierships.

“This is a very important game for us in terms of shaping our finals campaign,” Hawke said. “A win in this match will help us secure third spot on the ladder which gives us a home final in the first round, something that is very valuable.

“A win will also help with our momentum. We don’t want to head to Goulburn next week with everything hanging in the balance.

“We obviously want to go back-to-back this year and we want to start building our form leading into the finals.”

The Scholars defeated the Rams 38-24 however Hawke is far from confident of victory given Woden’s open brand of football and their semi-finals aspirations hanging in the balance.
