CRRL: 2018 Competition Structure - FAQs
« on: November 10, 2017, 02:38:27 PM »
With the announcement of the 2018 competition strucutre changing in 2018, we've answered a few of the frequently asked questions.

Why add an extra age group?

Players are able to play two age groups ahead of their actual age group. Players who are ready to play against men can be selected by their coach to play if they are at least 17-years-old on that game day.

However, this new structure allows players who aren’t quite ready to continue their football careers and further develop their skills while their bodies are still maturing.

Who was consulted in making the decision to change the competition structure?

CRRL reached out to every club and invited them to be involved in the decision making surrounding the newly implemented changed. Most clubs took up this invitation.

Can players who were involved in Under 18s this year play open men’s next season?

Yes, the new structure has been put in place to enable players who aren’t quite ready to play against men to continue developing. However, players who are deemed ready by their coaching staff are able to play senior football if they are at least 17-years-old on that game day.

Can Under 16’sand 17’s play in the new Under 19’s competition?

Players can only play a maximum of two years above their age group. Under 17’s can play in the new Under 19’s competition but Under 16’s cannot.

How do these changes to the male age structure affect the female competitions?

They don’t. Teams up to Under 12’s will continue to be mixed gender teams. After that, women will join the Under 17’s competition before progressing to the open competition. Both of these competitions are female only.
