Campo can't quite hit Sami with a very long high pass and the ball bounces out. Probably would have been a try if the pass had gone to hand.

Video ref Eels. They make a break down field off a chip and chase and Morgan almost scores in the corner but a brilliant last ditch tackle by Croker forces his foot out just before he got the ball down. Great try saving effort by Croker! Video ref says no try and Raiders get a scrum.

Paulo is sin binned for tackling Fensom without the ball when he would have scored otherwise. Croker is taking a penalty kick from right in front and gets it. Raiders lead 14-0 with 6 mins left.

SECOND HALF

A few knock ons from both sides to start the second half. Understandable in these wet conditions. Raiders are challenging a knock on call against them because they think it was stripped. Challenge successful and Raiders get a penalty.

Raiders score off the back of the penalty! Worboys chips over to Heffernan who catches it and steps a couple of times then plants the ball down. Cornish converts and Raiders lead 22-6 after 46 mins.

Ahearn sends a perfect long ball to Creith who runs down the touch line then draws the fullback and passes to Hawkins who scores. Cornish lines up the conversion from out wide and kicks it. Raiders lead 40-6 after 57 mins. That's a hat trick for Hawkins.

Raiders keep putting the pressure on making the Eels work it out of their end and look dangerous every time they have the ball. Raiders lead 40-6 with 15 mins left in the Holden Cup.

Raiders score again! Ahearn gives a pass to Reuben who steams down the touch line and draws the fullback and then passes to Heffernan who gets a hat trick. Worboys converts and Raiders lead 46-6 with 13 mins left.

NYC Round 19 Report: Raiders V Eels

Centres Jeremy Hawkins and Andrew Heffernan both scored hat tricks this afternoon in the Canberra Raiders NYC side’s 46-6 drubbing of the Parramatta Eels.

Co-captain Hawkins led the way all afternoon, making a number of damaging runs throughout the game chalking up three tackle breaks on top of his three tries, while Heffernan showed football maturity well beyond his 18 years, scoring his hat trick through his excellent support play

Canberra were in control the whole game, completely out muscling the Eels in both attack and defence to record a comprehensive victory in freezing conditions.

The Raiders opened proceedings in the 8th minute when quick hands down the right side saw Jonathan Reuben cross. Unfortunately, Mitch Cornish was unable to convert.

Hawkins extended the home side’s four minutes later, after swatting off two would be tacklers close to the line. This time Cornish converted.

The Raiders scored their third unanswered try in the 18th minute when a bust up the middle of the field from five eighth Jordan Worboys culminated in a try under the posts to centre Andrew Heffernan.

Raiders up to sixth with simple win over Eels

Canberra briefly moved up to sixth place on the NRL ladder with a 14-0 win over bottom-placed Parramatta in freezing conditions in the nation's capital on Saturday night.

Converted tries to Jarrod Croker and Sami Sauiluma proved enough for the hosts against a toothless Eels outfit as the Raiders rose above a four-way tie for the sixth spot to claim the place for themselves.

Croker hit a penalty goal in the second half to ensure victory.

Parramatta's sorry season continues, having now lost 14 from 17 games this season.

More to follow.

Raiders: 12 (J Croker, S Sauiluma tries; J Croker 2/2 conversions, 1/1 pen)

Eels: 0

Raiders down Eels 14-0 in wet Canberra

Canberra have won their 12th straight home game with a 14-0 NRL victory over Parramatta in treacherous weather conditions.

Hail, sleet and rain saturated Canberra Stadium before kick-off, ensuring a dour contest and a high number of errors.

And while the temperature dipped to a chilly four degrees, the Eels' performance was even colder, dooming them to their eighth consecutive loss.

Raiders captain Terry Campese was outstanding for the home side, calmly directing play in the wet to set up the first two tries.

Prop David Shillington was another standout for Canberra, his error-free man-of-the-match performance yielding a valuable 176 metres in attack.

It didn't take long for the slippery conditions to take effect, Eels winger Brayden Wiliame spilling a Campese bomb a metre off his tryline in the sixth minute to gift centre Jarrod Croker a converted try.

The night got worse for Wiliame when the video referee ruled he failed to place down a Luke Kelly chip kick in the 26th minute.

Adding injury to insult, Wiliame was then caught off his wing minutes later when Campese threw a cut out pass to Sami Sauiluma to extend the Raiders' lead to 12-0 going into the break.

The Eels came agonisingly close to hitting back with a try in the 68th minute, Croker pulling off a superb low tackle to drag Eels centre Ryan Morgan into touch.

Eels interchange Joseph Paulo was then sin-binned with seven minutes to go after his early tackle on Shaun Fensom prevented a certain try, Croker nailing the resulting penalty to give the Raiders an unassailable 14-0 lead.

Young Raiders fullback Anthony Milford was classy at the back, his handling skills tested by Eels halfback Kelly's kicking game on countless occasions.

The win puts the Raiders one step closer to the club's home winning streak record of 17, which was posted between 1993 and 1995.

NRL Round 19 Report: Raiders V Eels

The Canberra Raiders remain well in contention for a top eight finish after registering a 14-0 against the Parramatta Eels tonight at Canberra Stadium.

While the Raiders struggled with the wet conditions early on, they never really looked in danger of losing to the bottom placed Eels who appeared unable to deal with the three degree temperature.

The Raiders struck early when Jarrod Croker scored after regaining a spilt bomb from Eels winger Brayden Williame. The talented centre then backed up to convert his try from the right touch line.

Parramatta dominated field position for a lot of the first half, with some clever kicking from halves Ben Roberts and Luke Kelly forcing three repeat sets.
