NYC Match Report: Raiders record big win

The Raiders NYC side have recorded a 36-14 win over the Warriors NYC side in Auckland this morning.

The home side enjoyed the bulk of possession in the early stages of the match as they opened the scoring when Dylan Tavita showed great strength to stretch his arm out over the try line and give the young New Zealand side a 6-0 lead.

The Warriors had to endure repeat sets as the young Raiders pushed hard for a quick reply. Channel Harris-Tavita gave the Warriors extra breathing space with a penalty goal in the 27th minute.

Brett White’s young side soon clicked into gear at the end of the first half as Sebastian Kris picked up a loose ball to score. Andre Niko converted and the Raiders were trailing the home side 8-6.

The young centre soon had another try as he received an offload from Sione Afemui on the halfway line to race through and give the Raiders a 10-8 half time lead.

The young Raiders got off to the perfect start in the second half as Mikaele Ravalawa received an inside pass from Sebastian Kris to stretch their lead to 16-8.

The young Fijian had a double five minutes later showing great strength to fend off two Warriors to force his way over the line and give his side a 20-8 lead.

Brett White’s side were in full control of the match and young forward Hudson Young grabbed a try under the posts as Canberra took a 26-8 lead.

Harry Van Dartel who was playing on the wing grabbed a try for himself before five-eighth Derek Hay put the Raiders in complete control with a try under the posts to give Canberra a 36-8 lead.

The Warriors added a late consolation try through Chris Sio as the young Raiders recorded a morale boosting 36-14 win in Auckland.
