Yass Magpies Face Belco Scholars in Prelim Final Showdown
« on: September 14, 2012, 12:56:21 PM »
Do or die

Allen Malau charges forward in the Magpies game against the Queanbeyan Blues last week.

The Yass Golf Club Magpies head into tomorrow’s preliminary final quietly confident they can turn the tables on minor premiers, the Belconnen Scholars.

The Scholars won both clashes between the two sides during the season, the most recent a 38-18 victory just over a month ago.

The Magpies would take heart in the fact they led 18-16 at half-time before drastically going away from their game plan.

The Magpies welcome back full-back Dane Snowden from injury, with their only concern being the fitness of prop Victor Teofilo who suffered a hamstring injury in their semi-final win over the Queanbeyan Blues.

Five-eighth Tim Warden, who injured his ribs in the same match, is a definite starter.

The Scholars will be licking their wounds after a bruising 24-12 loss to the Queanbeyan Roos in last weekend’s major semi-final.

The Belconnen side finished the game with no one on the bench and will be carefully monitoring their injuries in the lead up to tomorrow’s game.

They may also be without the services of star five-eighth Brent Crisp who was to face the judiciary on biting charges during the week.

The match kicks off at 3pm at Seiffert Oval, with the winner advancing to grand final Sunday week against the Queanbeyan Roos.

A reminder that there will be a fundraising collection taking place at the game for the family of Jay Lasscock, a Queanbeyan Blues player who died suddenly on Sunday night.
