Tongue back for home trip to Tamworth

Canberra Raiders Captain Alan Tongue has been declared fit to play and will lead the Green Machine against the Bulldogs in his home town match in Tamworth.

Raiders recruit Matt Orford has failed to pass a fitness test for the match and will not travel with the side, nor will Joel Thompson who will rest his rib injury to ensure he’s available for round one.

Tongue said he’s looking forward to returning to his home town for the match and said he wouldn’t be the only familiar face for the locals.

“It’s a huge thrill to be able to lead the team at Tamworth and all my family and friends will be at the game so its exciting,” Tongue said. “Tom Learoyd-Lahrs also has plenty of friends and family in Tamworth so I wont be the only one from the area.”

Calling any Raiders player crap is a little low in my opinion, especially when its a young player who has been doing a great job under the circumstances. He is getting better all the time and I wouldn't be surprised if he plays rep footy one day.
