His father is a Canberra Raiders premiership hero but Bryce O'Sullivan is making a name for himself as the Belconnen United Scholars launch their charge towards a finals berth.

Chris O'Sullivan lifted the Raiders to their first premiership when he kicked a field goal in extra time in the 1989 grand final against Balmain. More than 20 years later Bryce - a teenage centre - is dominating on the edges for the Scholars and bagged four tries in their win over the Gungahlin Bulls last weekend.

''I think he's got the potential to reach the same level [as his father],'' Scholars captain Channon McAskill said. ''It just depends on how far he wants to go. Keep an eye on him. If he can get a look in [at an NRL club] it will be really good for him. He's got great footwork and is a very good defender.''
