The Canberra Raiders have dealt favourite son Terry Campese a double blow, telling the ageing playmaker he will be cut from the NRL side next season after blocking a move to England.
Hull FC made Campese a $300,000-a-season offer, meaning the Raiders needed to make up the shortfall on the final season of his $500,000-a-year deal for 2015.
But because the Raiders had only just learnt young gun Anthony Milford was definitely joining the Broncos, club CEO Don Furner and coach Ricky Stuart blocked the move.
After the way the Raiders have handled the issue, Campese has told teammates he’ll be playing NSW Cup for Mounties for $500,000 next season.
