7 Days of Rams

Day 5

The number of State of Origin Games Woden Valley Rams Junior Luke Priddis played for NSW.

Luke made his debut for the Canberra Raiders in 1997 and went on to play a combined 315 games for the Raiders, Brisbane Broncosos, Penrith Panthers and Dragons.  Winning a competition with the Broncos in 2000 and the Panthers in 2003, where he became the first hooker to win the Clive Churchill medal. Luke also played 2 games for Australia and 2 games for Country NSW. The Woden Rams Juniors currently  run a preseason competition for U/13 teams named the Luke Priddis Cup.

The Rams have had a number of great juniors go on to play in the NRL. These include Paul Martin (whose son Jordan and nephew Brad are now members of the First Grade squad) and Nigel Gaffey who both members of Canberra Raiders Premiership winning, Paul in 1989 and 1990 and Nigel in 1990.

Other outstanding juniors who went on to represent the Rams in the NRL are Lincoln Withers, Darrell McDonald, David Cox, Paul Young, Terry Martin, Shane Kelly and Brad Kelly.

The Rams currently have two members of their family playing NRL in Sami Sauiluma who has made a move to the Cronulla Sharks for the 2015 season and former Captain/Coach Brenton Lawrence who is doing a great job with the Manly Manly Warringah Sea Eagles.

The Rams are very proud to have had these players go onto the NRL and represent the club. With the great work being done by the Woden Rams Juniors we hope that it won’t be long and we will have more Rams players competing in the NRL.
