Not that long ago, league culture demanded players play on after suffering head knocks to avoid letting down their teammates.

But Yass coach Mark Bell has declared star outside back Junior Vatikani will be prevented from making an immediate return to the field after he was badly concussed in a game last week.

Vatikani, one of the most dynamic players in the competition, was knocked unconscious for several minutes during the Magpies' 38-22 win over Woden Valley. He was later cleared of any major damage, but Bell said he wouldn't be risked against Belconnen United next week when the Canberra. Raiders Cup returns from its long-weekend hiatus.
