Papalii called up by Kiwis

Teenager named in training squad

Teenager Josh Papalii is the only new face in New Zealand's initial train-on squad for the Four Nations Series.

The 19-year-old back-rower, who was born in Auckland but raised in Queensland, started 2011 in Canberra Raiders Under-20 side but went on to make 14 appearances in first grade.

The initial nine-man squad has been selected from clubs failing to make the NRL play-offs and will be joined by the rest of the Kiwis soon after the Grand Final for a one-off game against Cook Islands on October 6.

The Kiwis then travel to Newcastle for the trans-Tasman Test against the Kangaroos, before heading to Britain for the Four Nations.

Shaun Kenny-Dowall and former Leeds forward Greg Eastwood have been ruled out with groin and wrist injuries respectively while Frank-Paul Nuuausala is unavailable due to off-season surgery.

New Zealand:
Frank Pritchard (Canterbury Bulldogs), Bronson Harrison, Josh Papalii (both Canberra), Jeremy Smith (Cronulla), Fuifui Moimoi (Parramatta), Sam McKendry (Penrith), Issac Luke (South Sydney), Sam Perrett, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (Sydney Roosters).

Very well deserved, he has been outstanding ever since he debuted. Almost makes you want to cheer for the Kiwis  :D
