Raiders Year in Review – Glen Buttriss

With the long off-season now upon us we’re going to take time to look at the Raiders players and see what sort of season you think they’ve had.

At the bottom of each section we’re encouraging fans to put down what they think the best moment was for each player and wish them good luck for the off-season.

Buttriss has established himself as the lead candidate for the number nine jersey in 2012, with the retirement of Alan Tongue at the end of the 2011 season.

A strong showing from the bench in the early portion of the season allowed Buttriss to come into the games late in the first half and create opportunities around the ruck, with his service to his players from dummy half ensuring good metres down field.

Buttriss’ efforts saw him promoted to starting hooker towards the back end of the season, before his year was cut short by a teal to his pectoral muscle.

With the continued development of his kicking game from dummy half Buttriss will continue to improve in 2012 and will be kept on his toes by the likes of Travis Waddell, Michael Picker and Toyota Cup graduate Matt McIlwrick.
