Canberra hold out Parramatta 25-12 in round 16 NRL action at Canberra Stadium

A much improved Canberra outfit have done enough to edge out Parramatta 25-12 on a cold Saturday night at Canberra Stadium.

David Furner's outfit were strongest out of the blocks and were dominated the entire first-half in terms of possession and try scoring opportunities.

An early four-pointer from the Eels' Matthew Keating at the start of the second-half breathed new life into the contest.

The Eels scored a slick try through hands down their right edge, but any pressure the Eels applied thereafter, Canberra dealt with.

The wobbliest of scrappy field-goals from Josh McCrone put his side out to a 19-12 lead, before a Nathan Massey chargedown put the result well beyond doubt.

It means that despite Parramatta's commendable efforts against St George Illawarra and Manly in recent weeks, Stephen Kearney's side have only picked up one point in the past month.

More to come ...
