Raiders and ActewAGL present The Cancer Support Group with $500

The Canberra Raiders and ActewAGL were proud to present a $500 cheque to The Cancer Support Group on Wednesday morning, following their meet the player’s day on July 8.

Canberra Raiders Coach and Cancer Support Group Patron David Furner joined Raiders Captain Terry Campese and ActewAGL Director of Marketing and Corporate Affairs Paul Walshe at The Cancer Support Groups office in Queanbeyan today, to present the money to Melissa Gardiner from sales of a sausage sizzle held at the meet the player’s event.

Raiders Coach David Furner said the club had a proud association with The Cancer Support Group and thanked ActewAGL for their support.

“The Cancer Support Group does a wonderful job supporting families in need and I know every dollar counts and is used to support local families,” Furner said. “The Raiders are proud to help the group whenever we can and we thank ActewAGL for their continued support.”

Raiders Captain Terry Campese said the players loved the opportunity to mingle with some of their loyal fans and said the club was always looking at ways to help connect with the community.

“Thanks to ActewAGL we were able to hold a great event earlier this month and I know the players appreciated the great turnout we had to the meet the player’s day,” Campese said. “Being able to raise the money shows the community is right behind the team and more importantly organisations like The Cancer Support Group.”

ActewAGL Director Marketing and Corporate Affairs Paul Walshe said “The Raiders meet the players day was a fantastic community event, with kids young and old enjoying meeting their team. The $500 raised from the sausage sizzle will help local families living with cancer. ActewAGL is proud to support both the Canberra Raiders and The Cancer Support Group.”
