A positive COVID case at the Canberra Raiders is set to force the club into an early Christmas shutdown, should players and coaching staff be deemed close contacts of an infected employee. Raiders players and staff were forced into lockdown late on Wednesday after an employee, who had been in at the club on Monday, returned a positive COVID test. The club has sought ACT Health advice on how to best deal with the situation, as players and staff rushed to get tested on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. Should the players be deemed close contacts of the infected staff member as expected, they will be required to isolate for a minimum seven days. If deemed casual contacts, they'll escape isolation on receipt of a negative test result.
