How a tragedy reignited Goulburn's season

It is often said there are pivotal moments in games that can define a season, yet it was a tragedy which finally allowed Goulburn to find its groove.

Winless from their first five games, the Bulldogs were in desperate need of inspiration to stay in the Canberra Raiders Cup finals race.

Sadly, the passing of Bulldogs forward Richie Mason's mother proved the tonic for Goulburn to go on a barnstorming run that saw it drop points just once in the next five games after dedicating its breakthrough win against West Belconnen to Mason.

Mason said the win put everything into perspective.
