Remember to register your vote for the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body elections that take place in early July if you are eligible.

The ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body was established by the ACT Legislative Assembly under the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body Act 2008 to enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in the ACT to have a strong democratically elected voice.

In recognition of the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to freely determine their political status and to freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development in line with the right to self-determination, the Elected Body is enabled to give a voice to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Canberrans.

Its members represent the interests and aspirations of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. It provides direct advice to the ACT Government with the ambition of improving the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Canberrans.
