Dugan and Williams Given Until Thursday to Prove Fitness for Final
« on: September 04, 2012, 08:28:13 PM »
Raiders name Dugan, Williams

Canberra coach David Furner will give key players Josh Dugan and Sam Williams until Thursday to prove their fitness for their elimination final showdown with Cronulla on Sunday.

Dugan (ankle) and Williams (shoulder) both missed last weekend's win over the Warriors in New Zealand but have been named to face the Sharks at Canberra Stadium.

The pair are yet to train with the squad this week but will resume preparations on Wednesday with the hope of lining up in the knockout final.

"They're both back to full squad training tomorrow," Furner said on Tuesday.

"There's certainly a couple of tests we need to go through, but I'm reasonably confident that they will (be okay).

"Thursday will be the day we'll know definitely."

Dugan's return will see Reece Robinson shift back to the wing, while Shaun Berrigan drops back to an extended bench to accommodate Williams' comeback.

Cronulla have named Todd Carney despite the influential playmaker rolling his ankle in the loss to North Queensland last Sunday.

Centre Ben Pomeroy is also in the side but will only play if he beats a dangerous contact charge at the NRL judiciary on Wednesday night for his shoulder charge on the Cowboys' Johnathan Thurston.

Youngster Ricky Leutele will come into the starting side if Pomeroy is banned.

Utility Wade Graham, who has been out with a sternum injury, is on an extended bench and will need to get through the entire week of training to face the Raiders.
