The NYC Raiders have suffered their first loss of the season, going down 34-24 to the Roosters at Allianz Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

A double from Jonathon Reuben was not enough to help the Raiders to yet another win, in what was a seesawing encounter in wonderful conditions in Sydney.

The Roosters opened the scoring through winger Chris Taripo, after just three minutes of play.

But it took just four minutes for the reply from the Raiders, with Reuben crossing for his first of the afternoon.

The Roosters began to build some real pressure, with Joseph Forrester and five-eighth Cory McGrady scoring in quick succession, to put the Tricolours out to a 16-6 lead.

A penalty goal to Josh Mitchell edged Canberra closer to the Roosters, as they went into the break down 16-8.

The Raiders showed why they had been successful in the first two rounds, and came out of the sheds firing.

Two quick tries to powerhouse forward Uiti Baker and towering winger Edrick Lee had our side in the lead, 20-16.

Reuben grabbed his second of the afternoon soon after, and the Raiders had taken a good 24-16 lead.

But 20 minutes later, it was the Tricolours who replied with three quick tries of their own, with Inoke Vunipola, Ryley Jacks and Usaia O'Sullivan scoring in the 63rd, 66th and 68th minutes respectively.

Chris Taripo was 100% with the boot in the second half, giving the Roosters a 34-24 lead with less than 10 minutes to play, and it was there the score remained.
