Ferguson named as Raiders full-back
20 March 2012, 6:47 pm

Map: Canberra 2600   Blake Ferguson has been named at full-back in place of injured star Josh Dugan for Canberra's round four match with Wests Tigers on Monday night.

Debutant Dimitri Pelo has been given a chance to impress on the wing following changes brought about by the Raiders' extended casualty list from their 14-8 loss to Sydney Roosters on Sunday.

As well as being without Josh Dugan (shoulder), Shaun Fensom (biceps) and Trevor Thurling (knee) also failed to see out the match.

Dugan and Fensom are both likely to miss six weeks, while Thurling will have surgery on Wednesday in the hope of returning in a fortnight.

Forced into making some drastic changes for the Tigers match, coach David Furner has also named Josh Papalii at lock for the hard-working Fensom.

Pelo has been given the OK to make his NRL debut, while Glen Buttriss and Joel Thompson have both made the starting line-up for the first time this year.

Buttriss will play hooker in a straight swap for Travis Waddell, who has been named on the bench, along with newcomers Joe Picker and Sam Mataora, while Thompson starts in the second row
