Nielsen misses must-win match against Raiders

Warriors centre Dane Nielsen will miss his side's must-win NRL match against the Raiders with injury.

He's succumbed to ankle and shin injuries suffered over recent weeks and is likely to be replaced by Jerome Ropati in the centres.

Rookie Ngani Laumape is expected to come onto the wing.

Meanwhile, viewers will hear from the video referees during the game for the first time tonight.

The Broncos' match against the Knights and the Tigers' home game against Souths will trial the system, where video refs will explain their decisions.

NRL general manager of football operations Nathan McGuirk says they don't want it to be a gimmick.

"We've done some work in terms of the language that we want used in this type of communication process, that it's quite direct, it's quite to the point, but also informative."

Sky Television has been having some issues setting up the new system, with technical tweaks needed on game day.

As a trial, video referees will be forced to explain their decisions for awarding or denying tries as part of the television coverage for all matches this round.

It follows criticism of the officials upstairs over the last two years for controversial calls.

McGuirk says they don't want it to ruin the flow of the game and they want it to have some meaning.

"And also that the communication used is clear and that it's informative as well. That it's just not some simple words that really no one gets anything out of.

"So we want it to be informative as well."
