Round 22 Tips

Here’s our previews and tips for all the Round 22 matches. Who are you tipping this week? Leave them in the comments for those who are still deciding.

Friday August 7 Brisbane Broncos V Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Suncorp Stadium, 7.45pm (All times local)

The Bulldogs showed last week that they can match it with the best, despite a poor start against the Roosters. The Broncos suffered a shock loss to the Sea Eagles last week and will be very keen to get back on the winners’ list and record a win at home.

Manly Sea Eagles V South Sydney Rabbitohs Brookvale Oval, 7.45pm

Manly will be full of confidence about a great win over the Broncos last week to make it five wins from their last six games. Meanwhile the Rabbitohs have also found some good form, winning their past three. The Bunnies should be slightly too strong in an exciting contest.

Saturday August 8 New Zealand Warriors V St George Illawarra Dragons Westpac Stadium, 3.00pm

The Warriors have lost three on the trot, while the Dragons aren’t going much better, having lost seven in a row before last week’s resounding win over the Knights. Tough one to pick, St George were definitely much improved last week, but was it a one off or is it enough to turn their downward slide around? We’re going with the Warriors at home.

Warriors by 4

Cronulla Sharks V North Queensland Cowboys Remondis Stadium, 5.30pm

This should be a cracking contest with both teams in great form, but coming up against the Cowboys will be a tough ask. Six of the Sharks last seven wins have been by less than six points. Perhaps their luck will finally run out against their more fancied opponents.

Cowboys by 8

Parramatta Eels V Penrith Panthers TIO Stadium, 7.00pm

These two are equal on points and both heavily injury hit as they clash up in Darwin. Both sides have flirted with the wooden spoon at times this year. Tough match to call, we’re going to go with the Eels in a flip of the coin decision.

Eels by 4

Sunday August 9 Melbourne Storm V Gold Coast Titans AAMI Park, 2.00pm

Just when you think the Storm are back in business, they suffer a huge loss to the Tigers. It will help being at home this week though and they should be more switched and record a win over the Titans this week, with teams outside the eight hot on their heels.

Storm by 8

Newcastle Knights V Sydney Roosters Hunter Stadium, 4.00pm

Third versus last will more than likely be as one sided as it sounds. The Roosters were pushed all the way last week against the Bulldogs so they might have pulled up a bit sore but that shouldn’t affect the result.

Roosters by 12+

Monday August 10 Canberra Raiders V Wests Tigers The Raiders are still a shot at finals and this might be their last chance to make a play for the top eight. Coming up against the 15th placed Tigers will give them confidence and they should get over the line and stay in touching distance of finals.
