Twitter was buzzing on Thursday night with rumours Canterbury coach Des Hasler could rest a number of star players from Friday night's NRL clash with the Raiders at Canberra Stadium.
The Bulldogs are four points clear on top of the NRL ladder after 12 straight wins while Canberra need to win to keep their faint finals hopes alive.
The social networking site carried speculation that centre Krisnan Inu and fullback Ben Barba were out of the round 25 clash.
'Mail that Uni (sic) and Barba our (sic) .... Canberra been backed for a stack #upsetlooms,' tweeted Tattsbet.com's Gerard Daffy.
The tweet sparked a wave of responses forcing Daffy to tweet: 'just rumour at this stage'.
Tuxy81 tweeted Daffy back: 'sounds like maybe (Michael) Ennis (out) at least. (Joel) Romelo travelled with them apparently and he is not 18th man'.
Canberra shortened from $2.85 into $2.40 with reports the Raiders had been backed with most major bookmaking outlets across the country on Thursday.
Canterbury said the side they'd named on Tuesday had travelled to Canberra on Thursday.
'The market on the game has been up since Wednesday and all of a sudden punters are jumping out of trees to back Canberra to beat a side that's won 12 in a row,' Daffy told AAP.
