Not easy being green: FurnerRAIDERS CEO Don Furner admits it was extremely tough on the family as his brother and Canberra coach David Furner came under fire during the team’s poor start to the season.
The Raiders won only four of their first 12 matches and Ricky Stuart was heavily linked with the club as a replacement for coach Furner.
But the Raiders have since turned things around and are now only two wins away from making their first grand final in 18 years.
Don said he could only sit back and watch as his brother’s career flashed before him.
‘‘I reckon it was incredibly harder for him,’’ Don said.
‘‘It’s harder for him having me here than it is for me having him here. He’s my brother, but I can’t come out and publicly protect him or publicly support him because there’s always calls of nepotism."
