Pirtek Parramatta Eels head coach Ricky Stuart insists he hasn't spoken to another club about a potential switch for next season, telling the media he's contracted to the Eels.

Speaking after the Eels finished their 2013 season with a 54-6 loss to the Newcastle Knights, Stuart says he's not looked anywhere else.

"I've seen the speculation, just like you have," he said.

"But I'm contracted here - I haven't spoken to anyone else about anywhere else."

After recent speculation linking Stuart to Canberra for next season, he says he's not been in touch.

"I haven't spoken to Canberra, it's not on my mind."

"Sure, I have got a lot of friends in Canberra, but I haven't officially spoken to them, I can't go anywhere with that."

"Parramatta is where I'm contracted, what more do you want me to say?"

After finishing the year in 16th position, Ricky says he is feeling the disappointment along with the playing group.

"I'm in it with them. I'm embarrassed and I hope the players have the same feeling."

"I said it at the start of the year, I think there's a lot of change we've done, but there's got to be more."

"From around the club, from within in regards to what we do with our rosters, attitude, environment, which is evident."

"I get disappointed for people such as Tim Mannah who play their hearts out week in, week out and give 110 percent. There aren't many of them, but there are a few."

As for the future for the Eels, Ricky says it can be hard to see positives, but they are there.

"I think we've debuted a couple of very good first graders for the future," he said.

"You saw another one there today in Joey Ualesi; we've had Kelepi Tanginoa this year, and Junior Paulo, who for that type of result [today] was very good."

"On days like this nobody believes there are blue skies around, but there are in the big picture, long term. It takes a while to get this right."
