While it is often the flashy players such as Jarrod Croker, Anthony Milford or Reece Robinson that kids list as their favourite players, for Raiders Members Mitchell and Samuel Warner #1042, their favourite player is without a doubt the hard-working and often lacerated Joe Picker.
The two boys, along with their mother Mary and father David, got to meet Joe in an exclusive setting as part of the club’s 100-4-100 program which rewards 100 randomly selected members with 100 money can’t buy experiences.
Mary says that Mitchell and Samuel are “obsessed” with Joe to the point where the pair don girls headbands or tape around their heads because they want to “look like Joe Picker” given that the second-rower often has to sport tape around his head after cutting it open in the line of duty.
“Mitchell is obsessed with Joe Picker and has been disappointed recently because he has not played in the first grade team,” Mary said. “He has been wearing a girls headband to the games which he wears on his forehead because he wants to look like Joe Picker."
