Map: Canberra 2600 The Raiders held off a resurgent Sydney Roosters outfit to post a 24-16 win at Canberra Stadium on Sunday evening.
The home side look to be in control of proceedings when they led the Roosters 16-6 midway through the second half.
But the Roosters, missing a host of stars through State of Origin duty, fought back with a try to Joseph Manu to put his side only a converted try behind the Raiders.
Jarrod Croker gave the Raiders some breathing space with a penalty goal in the 69th minute to extend the lead to 18-12 before a Latrell Mitchell try for the Roosters out wide set up a grandstand finish.
Michael Gordon was unable to land the conversion, which would have levelled the score at 18-18 in the final five minutes, however the Raiders put the result beyond doubt when Aidan Sezer crossed for a converted try in the 80th minute.
More to come.
