Campese: 'Plenty of positives in loss'

It was the one that got away for the Raiders.

It looked like the Green Machine had done enough after Josh Dugan kicked a field goal to break an 18-18 deadlock with just seven minutes left to play.

However it wasn't to be with a late try to Billy Slater stopping what would have been a terrific Raiders victory.

Whilst they didn't get the two points captain Terry Campese felt there was a lot to like about the Raiders Round 1 performance.

"Our defence was excellent," Campese said.

"We composed ourselves and got right back into the game.

"We were down 12-nil after 10-15 minutes and managed to come back and take the lead against a quality football side, you've got to look at the positives there.

Whilst there is plenty to take away from the match going into next week against the Titans, Campese said it was very hard not to be disappointed.

"It was there for the taking, there were just a few key errors which cost us the game.

"We're disappointed because we never want to lose."

The Raiders will take on the Gold Coast Titans next week at Skilled Park.
