Social media has again proved a downfall of the Canberra Raiders, this time blowing any secrecy about a possible shock return of star centre Blake Ferguson for Saturday night's clash with the North Queensland Cowboys.
Prop Brett White posted a photo on Twitter on Friday that showed Ferguson on the flight to Townsville with the Raiders, despite the club having ruled him out with a fractured cheekbone.
Ferguson responded to speculation by tweeting: "got family up here so I made the trip with the boys! Still out till next week!"
That message, as well as the original photo from White, were both later deleted from their respective Twitter accounts.
A Raiders spokesman said at this stage Ferguson was not playing, but Fairfax Media understands he has trained all week and could be a late inclusion.
Ferguson has been sidelined since sustaining the injury in the round four loss to the Newcastle Knights three weeks ago.
The 23-year-old would be a valuable addition to a Raiders team already without key forwards David Shillington (ribs) and Josh Papalii (knee).
