LAST year's grand final loss still hurts, but Queanbeyan Kangaroos five-eighth Jordan Macey believes it could provide the blueprint to spring an upset against Queanbeyan Blues in next week's decider.

The Kangaroos set up a second all-Queanbeyan grand final in three years with a tense 23-18 preliminary final win over Tuggeranong at Seiffert Oval on Saturday. Searching for their first Canberra Raiders Cup premiership since 2008, the Blues will start hot favourites after hammering the Kangaroos 32-10 in the major semi a fortnight ago.

Macey believes the lessons learnt from losing last year's grand final to Belconnen United as favourites could be a secret weapon.

''That match last year is probably a positive, I thought we were the better team but it showed how quickly a grand final can change,'' Macey said.
