CRRL: Austbrokers Canberra CRC TOTY: Props
« on: October 16, 2017, 11:32:32 AM »
As we continue our way through naming our Team of the Year, we take a look at our options in the front row.

Props: Josh Ayers (Queanbeyan Kangaroos)and Sam Sotogi (Yass Magpies)

Josh Ayers showed no signs of slowing down as he entered his 14th straight season of playing in the Austbrokers Canberra CRC.

Having made the move from Gungahlin Bulls at the end of the 2015 season, the veteran led the Kangaroos forwards with aplomb as they reached their second grand final in as many years.

Not only did Ayers make good meters for his side, he had a useful knack to score a try with five for the season. These tries extended Ayers’ record of having scored a try in every season since his debut in 2004.

Sam Sotogi impressed many in his first season in the Austbrokers Canberra CRC with his hard running and solid defence.

Having played for the Sunshine Coast Falcons in the 2015 in the Intrust Super Cup, Sotogi alongside Saipani Aiolupo helped transform the Magpies forward pack into one to be feared.

Unfortunately for Yass, Sotogi went down with a knee injury in the final game of the season and the Magpies struggled without him in their forward pack as they lost to the Queanbeyan Blues in the preliminary final.

Contenders: Connor Brebner (West Belconnen Warriors), Jake Stein (Queanbeyan Blues), Kyle O’Donnell (Queanbeyan Blues), Atu Tupou (Tuggeranong Bushrangers), Saipani Aiolupo (Yass Magpies)

Up next: Hooker
