Match Report NYC: Raiders triumph over Cowboys The Canberra Raiders under 20s side has snapped a two losing match streak by beating the North Queensland Cowboys 34-32 in keenly contested match at Canberra Stadium.
North Queensland had the opportunity to level the contest late in the match when centre Javid Bowen scored with 90 seconds remaining. However, fortunately for the Raiders, Cowboys five eighth Alex Grant missed the conversion attempt.
The Cowboys opened the scoring in the 7th minute when their lock David Munro crashed over from short range. Grant converted from in front for a 6-0 score line.
Canberra struck back six minutes later when a precision pass from Jack Ahearn saw Jonathan Reuben cross out near the right touch line. Trent Schubach’s conversion levelled the scores.
The visitors regained the lead in the 20th minute when winger Sampson O’Neill crossed. Bowen then extended that lead to 18-6 when he crossed on the back of a Raiders error deep in their own half.
Jeremy Hawkins was the next to score when he completed a perfectly executed set play off the back of a scrum. Raiders five eighth Jordan Worboys nailed the sideline conversion for an 18-12 score line at the half time break.
