NYC Round 21 Match Report: Raiders u20s dispose of Storm
« on: August 04, 2013, 02:05:26 PM »
The Canberra Raiders’ Under 20s team are on track to claim the Holden Cup minor premiership after disposing of the Melbourne Storm 46-22 in a masterful performance at Canberra Stadium.

Despite being missing notable players like Mitch Cornish, Jeremy Hawkins, Brenko Lee and Jeff Lynch, the Raiders steam rolled the eighth placed Storm to take a three point lead at the top of Holden Cup table.

Senior players Jack Ahearn and Jordan Worboys were the chief destroyers for the Green Machine coming up with three try assists and two line break assists between them while the Pangai brothers, Kilu and Tevita also caused the Storm plenty of headaches with their bullocking runs.

The opening 20 minutes of the match were rather sloppy, with poor handling causing both sides to waste a number of attacking opportunities, however, Raiders winger Jonathon Rueben opened the scoring when he scooped up an attacking grubber from Melbourne and raced 98 metres to score. Hooker Trent Schubach nailed the sideline conversion for a 6-0 lead after 21 minutes.
