Eighth Immortal Andrew Johns has put a line through the Canberra Raiders' season after
a 44-16 loss to a severely depleted Roosters outfit was just the latest chapter in a grim 2021 campaign.
Just days after releasing English halfback George Williams from his contract in a messy exit saga
, the Raiders fell to their seventh loss from their last eight games, starting hot but getting blasted by the Tricolours in a forgettable second half at Central Coast Stadium.
After the game, coach Ricky Stuart insisted in his post-match press conference that despite appearances, the squad remained a tight-knit unit.
