Canberra Cuts Campo?
« on: August 15, 2014, 11:04:55 AM »
Long serving half Terry Campese has reportedly been cut from the Canberra Raiders NRL side for next season.

Despite having a year to go on a 500,000 a year deal, the Raiders are believed to have told the ageing playmaker his services are no longer required.

To make matters worse, Canberra has booked a move for him to take up an offer with the UK Super League club Hull FC, meaning he may have to send next year playing NSW Cup for Mounties.

“We did make an inquiry about Terry Campese earlier this year, because we were looking for an experienced halfback for 2015," Hull’s football manager and former New Zealand Warriors player Motu Tony told The Daily Telegraph.

“We were told that he would not be released early, and we’re now full up for playmakers after signing Leon Price and Mark Snade.”

It's believed coach Ricky Stuart and Raiders boss Don Furner blocked the move because the offer came soonafter Anthony Milford announced he was joining Brisbane next season.

Since making his debut in 2004, Terry Campese has played 138 games for Canberra. In 2008 he played one test for Australia and the following year represented NSW in one match.
