French rugby club to turn its back on Sandor Earl
« on: August 30, 2013, 10:01:23 PM »
News of the doping scandal that has engulfed Canberra Raiders winger Sandor Earl has stunned the French rugby club in Pau he was set to join after his NRL commitments this year were over.

Management of the Pro 2 side, Section Paloise, woke up on Thursday to learn that their new recruit was now facing a four-year to life ban for doping offences that include trafficking although he's hopeful of having it reduced to 12 months for providing substantial assistance to investigators.

Section Paloise's view of Earl is unlikely to be sympathetic judging by the view of the club's vice-president, Yannick Le Garrérès.

In La Republique des Pyrenees, Le Garrérès said: "The club is uncompromising. We have ethics. Every year we talk for an hour with the players and the medical staff to warn against the evils of doping."

In another Pyrenean regional, Sud Ouest, Le Garrérès said: "It's a little too early to react."

While Sandor's short-term future in France appeared all but doomed, the club based in Pau at the foot of the Pyrenees announced on Thursday it would make public its position on his case in coming days.
