Shillington out for six weeks

The Raiders' horror NRL season was dealt another stinging blow this morning with scans on David Shillington's left pectoral muscle revealing a grade-two tear.

The international representative prop said he expects to be sidelined for six weeks.

Shillington suffered the injury in the second half of Sunday's 49-12 loss to the Wests Tigers, but played on hoping he'd only corked the muscle.

He was named in the Kangaroos' side to play New Zealand this Friday night and flew to the Gold Coast to meet his Australian teammates that night, but instantly ruled himself out yesterday morning after failing a medical.

The 27-year-old suffered almost exactly the same injury playing for Queensland in game three of the 2009 State of Origin series, missing five weeks on that occasion.

The injury couldn't have come at a worse time for the Raiders, who equalled the club's second worst losing streak by going down to the Tigers.

Coach David Furner will this afternoon name his side to play Manly at Brookvale Oval on Monday night.
