The Queanbeyan Kangaroos scored 28 unanswered second-half points to defeat West Belconnen 38-16 at Freebody Oval on Saturday.

Playing in front of their home crowd for the first time this season, the Kangaroos were expected to easily account for the competition strugglers.

But last year's grand finalists were made to work for their second win of the season after going into half-time down 16-10.

After the break however, it was all the home side as the Kangaroos piled on five tries to none.

At Phillip Oval meanwhile, ladder leaders the Queanbeyan Blues suffered a shock 34-30 defeat at the hands of Woden Valley.
