After playing in last year’s Grand Final loss, back-rower Jared McIlwrick extracted revenge over reigning premiers the Balmain Tigers by starring with a two-try performance in Canberra’s 38 – 14 win.
McIlwrick, the brother of NRL hooker Matt, and the other Raiders forwards completely outplayed the Tigers forward pack to enable the team’s talented backline to wreak havoc.
“Jared and Tevita Pangai were really impressive for us,” said Captain Luke Bateman.
