Queanbeyan Blues 22 defeated Belconnen United Scholars 18 at Northbourne Oval

Queanbeyan Blues Coach Simon Woolford said he was happy with the sides grinding 22-18 win over the Scholars on the weekend, with new recruits Trevor Thurling and Marc Herbert having good starts top their time with the club.

Woolford said the star pairing would need time to find their feet, but said the signs were there that they could make a big impact on the competition.

“Trevor Thurling was solid for us on the weekend and attracted a number of defenders every time he carried the ball,” Woolford said. “Marc Herbert was good in his first game and he’ll only improve as we get into the week to week competition I expect both of the guys to get better each week.
