Raiders refuse to let Williams shoulder loadCanberra has vowed not to take any risks with injured halfback Sam Williams in its final-round showdown with the New Zealand Warriors at Auckland on Sunday.
Raiders coach David Furner confirmed yesterday the playmaker had suffered damage to his left shoulder's trapezius muscle in last week's 34-6 win over Canterbury.
Williams has been in fine form since being recalled to the side against the Dragons in round 17, with Canberra winning seven of its nine games since.
Despite the fact a fifth-straight win would guarantee a finals berth, Furner insisted he wouldn't expose the diminutive Williams to the Warriors' physical pack if it meant risking further damage.
