KNIGHTS assistant coach Andrew Dunemann has signed a two-year deal to coach Canberra’s National Youth Cup team.

Dunemann was the last of Rick Stone’s coaching staff of the past two seasons to find a new job.

Stone will remain at the Knights as Wayne Bennett’s assistant for the next four years, Garth Brennan will coach Penrith’s NYC team for the next two years and Craig Sandercock has signed a two-year deal to coach English Super League club Hull Kingston Rovers.

Dunemann had agreed to coach Brisbane Norths in the Queensland Cup and had relocated to the Gold Coast, but the role with the Raiders was only finalised this week so he will now rejoin former Leeds teammate David Furner, Canberra’s NRL coach, in the national capital.

The 35-year-old former five-eighth and halfback led a journeyman career as a player, spending time at the Gold Coast, Cowboys, Raiders and Rabbitohs in the NRL, and in England at Halifax, Leeds, and Salford.

‘‘The job will have a bit of a welfare component too, so I’m looking forward to it,’’ Dunemann told the Newcastle Herald last night.
