Blues waste golden opportunity

The Queanbeyan Blues missed a golden opportunity to secure a place in the finals after losing 24-12 to Yass in the Canberra Raiders Cup yesterday.

On a day when nearest rival Gungahlin fell to Woden, Queanbeyan had a chance to seal fourth position by going two wins clear.

Such a margin would be unreachable for both Gungahlin and Goulburn, who still have to play each other coming into the final two rounds.

Queanbeyan coach Adam Doyle was disappointed with his side's execution in what was a must-win game. ''We were terrible today, far too many errors and we were punished for them,'' he said.
