CRRL: CRC Match Report: Crisp Deals Goulburn Finals Blow
« on: July 15, 2017, 07:57:56 PM »
The Goulburn Workers Bulldogs’ finals hopes were dealt a blow as they suffered a 60-6 loss at the hands of the Queanbeyan Kangaroos at Seears Workwear Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Having suffered consecutive losses against the Tuggeranong Bushrangers and the Queanbeyan Blues, Goulburn needed an upset win but a Brent Crisp masterclass blew the Bulldogs away.

Queanbeyan took only three minutes to get on the scoreboard when Josh Essex crossed the tryline to score off the back of a damaging run from Aisea Taholo.

The Bulldogs got themselves back into the match and were given a boost when Queanbeyan centre Tolokana Aroha-Tuinauvai was sent to the bin due to an off the ball incident with Blake Hewitt.

However, galvanised by the lack of troops Queanbeyan scored their second try when Brent Crisp created an overlap for Mitchell Connolly to score.

Dylan Hately kept Goulburn in with a sniff when kicked a perfectly placed grubber for Christopher Hart to score but Queanbeyan once again scored thanks to a 70m try from Jedidiah Simbiken to make the scores 16-6 at halftime.

Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, Tyler Cornish didn’t return in the second half after suffering an injury earlier in that match and the Kangaroos capitalised as Brent Crisp scored two tries within the opening ten minutes.

The fullback had his third try shortly afterward when he collected an offload from Aroha-Tuinauvai close to the line.

Aroha-Tuinavai continued to redeem himself for his earlier sin binning and scored his first try of the match as he shrugged off four defenders off the back of the scrum, while Jesse Dent scored shortly afterwards.

Brent Crisp had his fourth of the afternoon as he showed plenty of pace to run the length of the field to score and bring up 50 points for the Roos.

Queanbeyan weren’t finished scoring and had yet another try when Luke Dumas scored in the corner before Troy Whiley completed the rout two minutes from fulltime to give the Roos a 60-6 win.

Queanbeyan Kangaroos 60 (Tries: B Crisp 4, Tolokana Aroha-Tuinauvai, M Connolly, J Dent, J Essex, J Simbiken 2, T Whiley; Goals: B Crisp 7) d Goulburn Workers Bulldogs 6 (Tries: C Hart; Goals: B Hewitt)
